What is a well casing extension and do you offer this service?
Yes, we provide water well casing extensions, the Ministry of the Environment requires all wells to be brought to a height of sixteen inches above final grade with the installation of a vermin proof well cap.
Can a well go dry? How would you know if it did?
Yes, a well can go dry, if there is a lack of water you will know. This may be due to a water shortage in the aquifer that your well taps in to.
How often should I check my well water? And where do I obtain the correct well water test bottles?
You should have your well water checked at least twice or preferably four times per year. You can pick up water test bottles at your local township building or health unit. The test bottles come with a set of instructions. Once completed you can drop off the bottles at your township or health unit. Check the signage posted at your pick-up location for collection dates.
I recently purchased a home with a drilled well, what are my responsibilities as a well owner?
As a well owner you are legally responsible for the well. This includes the proper maintenance and if necessary, abandoning the well to protect the safety of your water. A poorly maintained well could affect your health and result in contaminated well water and ground water.
